March 2 = Live at the Center for the Arts - Kissidu 4-6 p.m.-Come be transported and amazed at this original African Arts Theater show, Liberté, choreographed by world renown West African artist, Fara Tolno. Liberté is French for Freedom, and this dynamic show will tell a story of humanity through music, movement, multimedia and more. A full live orchestra of Western and traditional African instruments will accompany dancers, aerialists, acrobats, breakdancers and more. Visiting West African artists will be joined by local musicians and dancers to produce an unforgettable show for all ages. Local youth to provide opening act. March 5 = Tuesday Trivia Nights at the Museum-331 Elk Ave, Crested Butte, CO-Test Your Knowledge of Crested Butte!-Step back in time and join us at the Crested Butte Museum for our Trivia Series, taking place every Tuesday in March from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.  Each week, we present you with rotating themes that will challenge your knowledge.  A pop-up bar serving drinks and eats will be open.  Register your team to get a chance at winning prizes!
Registration is $40 per team per week (up to 5 people per team) or $10 per individual entry per week.

 

March 6 = Historic Elk Ave. Walking Tours-2-3 p.m.Crested Butte became a registered National Historic District in 1974 to preserve our distinctive buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Join us on an Elk Avenue Walking Tour to learn about the history of the buildings, mining history, and stories from the community. Our regularly scheduled Elk Avenue Walking Tours will resume in March 2024 on Wednesdays, 2:00pm-3:30pm that meet at the Museum at 4th and Elk Avenue. Tours cost $20 (members) and $25 (non-members). We offer private walking tours outside of these regularly scheduled times for $25 per person, at a minimum of 3 people or $75 per tour. Featuring a robust bar menu as well as complimentary house wine or beer. Ann Morgan, a past web designer turned professional Oil Painter, continues her exploration of digital media and creating innovative landscapes in oil, while Elizabeth Morissette invites the viewer to remember a time, place, or person they once knew through her sculptures. Although the objects and landscapes that these two artists use are common, often the feelings that are invoked by their work are as varied as the individuals who view them.

March 14 = Freeride World Tour Challenger CBMR-Crested Butte IFSA Challenger, USA: March 14-16 – organized by Crested Butte Mountain Resort, a freeride bastion with a storied history, including the renowned CB Extremes, the longest standing competition. March 17 = Yurt Sunday Brunch 10 a.m. -2 p.m.-Our Magic Meadows yurt is located approximately one mile from the “gronk”, just north of Peanut Lake, on the Nordic Trail System. The trailhead is on Peanut Lake Road, with parking and trailhead signs designating access to our groomed Nordic Trail System. Skis or snowshoes and trail passes are required to reach the yurt. Walking and biking are prohibited on these Nordic trails. The yurt is located on the Inner Magic Meadows Trails which are accessed by the Beaver Trail and the Peanut Lake Trail to the South, or the Pooches Paradise trail to the North. All trails are marked.

March 21 = Van De Lux at the Irwin Brewery-202 Elk Ave. -Vandelux Ski Tour 2024 Vandelux (Evan White) is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and vocalist from Vancouver, BC, now residing in San Francisco, CA. Evan brings a global perspective to his music, drawing his artist name from a peculiar composition of past city dwellings (Vancouver, Deland, Luxembourg) that helped shape his sound into what it is today. Balancing retro nostalgia with contemporary electronic production, Vandelux has a knack for crafting songs that work their way into the collective conscience. In the wake of his 2021 Billboard-charting EP ‘Dream State’ Evan’s debut album ‘When The Light Breaks’, released in September of 2023, bolstered his position as a rising talent in the live electronic scene.

March 22 = Banff Mountain Film Festival-Crested Butte Search and Rescue is hosting two nights of mountain adventure, action sports and mountain culture films presented by the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour. This will be the 31st year that CBSAR has hosted this amazing event. The Banff Film Festival World Tour will take place Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 7-10pm with doors opening at 6:30pm at the Crested Butte Center for the Arts.

 

March 22 = Field Trip Breakfast & Ski with CBLT and the Nordic Center-10-12 pm. Join the Crested Butte Land Trust and Crested Butte Nordic Center for a free ski and breakfast at the yurt. Hear updates from both organizations and learn about the partnership between Nordic skiers and land conservation. Enjoy a free Nordic day pass an explore world class trails afterwards!

 

pubic houseMarch 22 = The Thing - at the Public House - The Thing is a four piece rock band out of Brooklyn, New York. Composed of Jack Bradley (guitar), Michael Carter (guitar), Lucas Ebeling (drums) and frontman Zane Acord (vocals, bass). Their debut album ‘Here’s The Thing’ is releasing April 14th which will be celebrated with a release show in Brooklyn NY at Baby’s Alright supported by Mike Sabbath and the Moongirls. The band has a healthy amount of touring on the horizon in 2024 and will be playing these new songs in cities throughout the eastern half of the country!

March 25 = Opera Colorado - Cinderella - Center for the Arts--7-8 p.m. -Is a bracelet as trusty as a glass slipper? Find out in this operatic telling of everyone’s favorite princess story!Rossini’s Cinderella is just different enough from the traditional fairytale to keep you guessing. The story follows Angelina (our Cinderella), who is forced to act as a servant to her wicked stepfather and two stepsisters. Through all her trials, she remains honest and kind. Meanwhile, it is announced that Prince Ramiro is looking for his bride. But not just any bride, he wants someone who will love him for who he truly is and not his money or title. Antics abound as Angelina’s family, a wise advisor, and a servant pretending to be the prince, get involved in this comedic take on the familiar story.

March 27 = The New Mastersounds - Irwin Brewery 9-10:30 p.m.-"For over two decades, The New Mastersounds have maintained more than just a reputation of longevity. Instead, they’ve cultivated a rare balance of consistency, yet commitment to constantly evolving their sound. Forged out of the golden age of the modern funk and soul revival in 1999, the band has amassed a catalog of sixteen albums, embarked on countless world tours, and drawn in a broad audience through both their original material and collaborations with esteemed vocalists and remixers.After a two-year hiatus of in-person engagements, the band retreated to the brand new Floki Studios in Iceland to hunker down and create their 17th studio album. 'The Deplar Effect' was released on Color Red in September 2022, and features Atlanta based vocalist Lamar Williams Jr, son of Lamar Williams of the Allman Brothers"

grand traverseMarch 30-31----Annual Elk Mountains Grand Traverse, Crested Butte to Aspen -This extraordinary 40-mile backcountry ski race between the towns of Crested butte and Aspen, CO is a fundraiser for the CB Nordic Council. Coinciding with the Grand Traverse, Crested Butte Ski Patrol hosts a fundraising part called "Soul Train" at Butte 66. Watch the Grand Traverse athletes take off from the Butte 66 deck around 11 pm.
